The Irish Gig is a collection of requests and favorites arranged for flute and guitar with descants composed for variation. It strives to be practical from a gigster’s point of view, which is “Help Me Make It Through the Night!” Time-tested sentimental songs are included along with pure instrumental dance tunes to allow the flutist to play the role of a good soprano with a wide range and lots of agility. Because the songs are so short, I have composed a new melody or “lead break” to double the original material, so repeats are a little less tiresome.
